We had a fantastic time this past weekend in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 2nd Annual Latin American Bitcoin Conference (#laBITconf). The conference team did an amazing job. The event kicked off with a fun samba band, there were great sessions and speakers, as well some fun times to unwind and mingle with fellow Bitcoin enthusiasts, including even some futbol on the beach!
Our Founder and Executive Director had a speaking role about the Social Impact of Bitcoin that was very well received. BitGive also had a booth space where Señor Bitcoin paid a visit!
Of course charity work was front and center! We sponsored a campaign for TECHO during the conference to raise funds for helping to build housing for the less fortunate. Also during our visit to Rio, we met with a local nonprofit CEDAPS, who we hope to be partnering with in the near future. The seeds for other very exciting projects were also planted, and we hope to share more with you on these soon.
All in all, it was a huge success, and we were honored to be a part of such a memorable event. Until next year (pssst … we hear it will be in Mexico)!
